Dismissed as being unfit for football in England’s top flight before he had even kicked a ball, Bamford immediately silenced these would-be critics by scoring for Leeds in all of their first three fixtures against Liverpool, Fulham and Sheffield United.
The England frontman has since gone onto register 7 goals and 1 assist in 676 minutes of action across Leeds’ first 8 games. Arguably the last prodigy to emerge from that famous era of Southampton recruits from their academy, James Ward-Prowse has been with the Saints since the 2011-12 promotion season from the Championship. At the time of writing, he’s managed to appear 287 times for Southampton since then, scoring 27 times and perhaps establishing himself as the league’s finest dead ball specialist playing right now. His assist and two goal dead ball brace against Aston Villa this season showcased all of his skills at work, and he’s already made himself one of the most crucial cogs in Ralph Hassenhuttl’s successful Saints side.
Picked by just 7.4% of players and costing just 6.0 in Fantasy Football, James Ward-Prowse represents a huge bargain of a midfield gem that could rack up the points over the course of a season. Already standing out in a side that looks like they are going to be especially potent this season, James Ward-Prowse’s dead ball duties means that he’s a threat with every free kick or corner the side gets and a real points accumulator from scoring on his own or supplying his teammates around him.
