There are several different types of pig waterers, but most of them have the same basic functions. Each one delivers water to the pigs’ bowls through a different method.

These methods include trigger valves, paddles, and floats. The majority of these types of pig waterers allow the pigs to fill the water bowls on their own.

However, most of these types of pig waterers also leave the water in the bowl after the pigs have finished drinking. This can result in dirty water. Automatic Pig Waterers, on the other hand, are designed to automatically drain after use.

When it comes to keeping pigs healthy and happy, it’s crucial to provide them with a good source of drinking water. There are many different types of pig waterers, each offering its own set of benefits and challenges.

    A Guide To Pig Waterers

The most basic type is an open trough, which is basically just a shallow container filled with fresh water. While this dispenser type is simple and inexpensive, it can be cumbersome to maintain and clean, especially in larger operations where high volumes of waste matter can easily accumulate inside the trough.

    1. Stainless Steel

If you are a farmer who needs a waterer for pigs, you should consider investing in a stainless steel pig waterer. They are made from 304 stainless steel and can hold a large pen of shoving pigs.

These waterers also have an anti-corrosion coating, which makes cleaning them very easy. They are also safe for piglets and help you cut down on water consumption and sewage discharge.

    2. Autofill

Pigs should always have access to fresh water, and an Autofill pig waterer can help you minimize water waste and provide fresh water at all times. There are several types of waterers available, and choosing the best one for your situation can be a daunting task.

The first thing to consider is capacity. While a half-gallon capacity should be plenty of water for most pigs, a full gallon will help them last a whole day.

    3. Drinking Post

One of the most effective ways to provide fresh water to pigs is to provide a Drinking Post. This device will ensure that the pigs have a constant supply of clean, pure water. These drinking posts come in a variety of sizes and designs.

    4. Height

Pig waterers must be positioned so that the pigs are not hindered while drinking. They should be at least 2 inches higher than the pig’s shoulder height. The nipples of a pig’s waterer should be positioned at a 45-degree angle to minimize water wastage.

    5. Size

The size and spacing of pig waterers are important considerations. Pork waterers should be placed at least 12 inches apart and be sized to fit the pigs. A one-to-two ratio of waterer size to pig height is typical for growing finishers and nursery pigs.

    6. Season

Seasonal pig waterers help you keep your pigs supplied with fresh water throughout the year. These containers come with a built-in float valve to prevent any water from escaping, while a thermostat controls the temperature. These containers also have a lid to prevent litter and debris from falling in.

When raising pigs for slaughter, maintaining the health and well-being of the animals is vital. A key component of this process is providing adequate food and water. In order to ensure that pigs have access to plenty of fresh water at all times, many farmers utilize pig waterers in their barns or pastures.

Pig waterers are typically small troughs or tanks that are placed around the enclosed area and filled with clean, fresh water on a regular basis. These devices provide an easy way for pigs to drink whenever they need to, helping to keep them hydrated and comfortable at all times.

Furthermore, they prevent pig waste from contaminating their drinking source, reducing the risk of illness or disease. For these reasons, pig waterers are an essential part of any successful animal farming operation.
