If NEET 2021 conducted in August, how should i prepare for it

The amount of uncertainty revolving around conducting the NEET 2021 exam has been very distracting. The changing numbers in Covid-19 cases have made it difficult for the National Testing Agency(NTA) to finalize a feasible NEET 2021 exam date. According to the latest memo from the Ministry of Education, officials are now viewing the July-August window for conducting NEET 2021. In light of the impending arrival of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the idea of further delaying the exam does not seem appropriate. Aspirants for the NEET claim that the fear of the pandemic is not as gripping as the fear of a delayed academic year and the unsettling uncertainty in the air.

If officials decide to conduct the NEET 2021 in August, students have just a little over a month to prepare for the examination. As short of a window leaves for preparation, there are a few things to keep in mind to face this year’s NEET.

Here are a few tips on how to prepare for NEET 2021:

    1. Time Management:

With about 96 different chapters spanning Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, a practical timetable is needed to tackle the most important topics of these subjects. Tackling completely new concepts can be tricky. Making notes on new chapters and solving their question banks can consume time that isn’t there. Even if you wish to pursue a new chapter, make sure you don’t spend several days on the same and choose the right books.

    2. Balancing Grade 11 and 12 syllabus

Question Papers of the last eight years show a pattern that has formed regarding the number of questions appearing from the syllabus of Grades 11 and 12. Physics witnessed an almost equal weightage of questions. Chemistry, in contrast, had 58% questions from Grade 12, and Biology had more questions from the Grade 11 syllabus. Also, there were considerably more questions on Botany than on Zoology, meaning an extra focus on the former is crucial.

    3. Behaviour Factors

Keeping a calm mind in these crucial days leading up to the exam is necessary. Instead of activating a panic mode, try to divert that energy in maintaining consistency. An airtight routine with minimal distractions can help you retain the matter studies instead of letting it evaporate. Self-doubting is a trait common in aspirants, which would hinder them from progress. Using this energy to set daily targets and focusing on charts, diagrams, and revision notes would keep you from procrastinating, which is the last thing one needs to face.

    4. Splitting your time of day

An ideal way to distribute your time between the three subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are to have six sessions in a day. Dedicate three of these sessions to catch up on the theoretical part and the remaining 3 to solving your PYQs.

    5. Mock Tests: Less or More?

Since there is a little over a month left for the exam, giving many mock tests may not be the best idea. While it may be beneficial for some aspirants who have completed the entire syllabus, 2 to 3 mock tests a week would be the ideal number for those who still lack some confidence. Lower scores on these mock tests can be demotivating and would also suggest a weaker preparation.

    6. Materials to browse

Your revision notes and infographics can prove to make a difference while brushing up. With little time left, choose only those reference books that you believe will help absorb the best.
