Outstanding Service
Please note that this is a special post for the “Most Adventurous of Inpatient Nurses”. We are overwhelmed with the number of inquiries we receive from our most adventurous patients. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our inpatient nursing program and to give you the opportunity to talk to us personally and ask us questions! You will either be able to meet or speak with one or two of our inpatients, or you may be able to sit down and have a real conversation with Dr. Diane Martin, RN, BSN.
Your Child’s Health is Our Priority
This is our first time writing about this subject, but we feel strongly that your child’s health and well-being should be our top concern. Unfortunately, in the current healthcare system, it’s a topic that often gets lost in the noise. Here are a few statistics to give you an idea of what we are dealing with:
- There are 6 million medically fragile children in the United States alone (source)
- More than 4 million children have long-term medical conditions, including learning disabilities and speech/language impairments (source)
- Almost half of these long-term medical conditions affect girls more than boys (source)
- Medically fragile children face 3.5 million preventable hospitalizations each year, or an average of 9 hospitalizations per 1,000 children (source)
But all is not lost! With proper support from your pediatrician and our pediatric nursing staff, there are ways to help your child to get better faster. Should your child begin to show even a small amount of discomfort due to a chronic condition such as asthma, which can be life-threatening for young children, it is important for them to be treated as soon as possible with a variety of treatment options. Our pediatric counseling team will guide you through these options and find the best solution for your child’s health needs.

Conclusion
Some time ago, I wrote a post headlined “Plugging the holes in your startup’s value proposition”. In that post, I noted that most startups use one of two values to sell their products (either “free” or “premium”) and that they should be aware of the pitfalls of this approach. It is not uncommon to hear startups say things like Yes, our app is free; but it comes with ads so we can cover the costs of running it. The problem with this approach is twofold: First, it makes the customer think you don’t really care about their needs, which is counter to your values. Second, as a startup, you are likely stuck in this phase for a long time before you can even make a business case for why you should charge people for your product.
You might think that charging people for your app would be easy once you have a product and an idea — but in reality, there are several reasons why charging customers is difficult. For example:
- The customer might not want to pay more than they actually need to
- They might not even realize they need more than just the basic features of your product
- Your product may be too limited in scope or functionality to justify charging people for its full price
Generally speaking (and across industries), there are three common mistakes most startups make when trying to raise capital: putting all their eggs into one basket; bailing out on the value proposition, and offering a lower-priced version of your product or service than what users need .
