Don’t listen to others opinions
People are going to have an opinion of you. First off, it’s not your business what they think. It’s their opinion, don’t take it from them. They might be jealous of you or they haven’t taken the time or made an effort to know you. Possibly, someone told them about you and if they want to listen to gossip, that’s not your problem. Either way, don’t waste your time worrying about something that you can’t change. Other peoples opinions can bring you down, but only if you allow it.
Choose your thoughts
Pay attention to any negative thoughts that you have. When you catch yourself believing that you can’t, replace that thought with you know that you can. Not only can you, but you can as well or better than anyone else.
If you notice a lot of negative self-talk happening in your head, then work on replacing those negative thoughts with positive ones. An easy yet powerful way to reduce negative self-talk is to practice japa or mantra meditation. This is an ancient yogic practice that repeats Sanskrit mantras over and over to help you focus and meditate on the positive. The website Japa Mala Beads has a great article on how to choose the best mantra to use for this type of meditation exercise.
Positive thoughts are what makes us feel good about our accomplishments. Praise yourself, you did good.
Surround yourself with positive people
You want to be around people who are positive and feel good about themselves. Believe it or not, negativity is contagious, just like positivity.
If you are around someone who is always complaining, you’ll find yourself being down and feeling negative. On the other hand, when you are around someone cheerful, you’ll find that you are happy and cheerful too.
Keep your mind and body healthy
When you don’t take care of yourself, you are not going to be very positive. You’ve got to eat healthy foods, get the proper amount of sleep and exercise for your body to stay healthy. Your mind has to be nourished too. Take a walk, laugh and do some puzzles, keep it healthy.
When you feel sluggish, it’s hard to get motivated. If you are a woman there are many great ways to boost your health that you can take advantage of.
Be kind and don’t forget to be thankful
When you are kind to people it makes you feel good. When you do something for others, out of the kindness of your heart, expecting nothing in return, it improves your self-esteem and leaves you less stressed. It’s amazing how you can feel to just give someone a smile.
Be thankful that you are able to help others. Your brain releases feel good chemicals, known as dopamine, that drowns out anxiety and negative feelings. Practicing gratitude is one of the easiest techniques to promote positive thinking.
Love and be loved
We all want to be loved. Sometimes, we actually expect people to love us. They might have to love you, but they don’t have to like you.
I know that you have heard that you’ve got to love yourself before anyone else can love you. It’s the truth. If you feel that you are ugly, you’re going to walk around looking sad and you won’t even take care of yourself physically. Once you put on those cute clothes and groom yourself or put on make up, you know you are looking good. That’ll put a smile on your face and your attitude will change. Not only did your physical appearance change, but you’ve changed entirely. You are so much easier for someone to love.
It’s not their responsibility
If you want to feel better. but you’re waiting on someone to do it for you, it’s not their responsibility. Truth is, nobody can do it for you, that’s your job.
Positive thinking isn’t going to take your problems away, but they will be manageable and you can approach them more positively and productively. Focus on the good. Laugh a lot, it lowers stress and helps so much with depression.
You are probably your own worst critic. That can cause a negative opinion of yourself. You’re not perfect, nobody is. If you do the best you can, that’s all that can be expected of you. When you stop expecting more from self, you can see just how good you are and start to appreciate yourself. See how good your work really is and be proud of it. When you start seeing yourself in a better light, you will start to see yourself smiling and able to encourage and uplift more. Tell yourself how good you are and when you tell self enough, you will start to believe it. Be happy, it’s OK.
It will take practice, you didn’t become negative overnight. Once you get in the habit of positive thinking, you will find yourself happier with every aspect of your life.
