The Wolf Administration has been able to receive preliminary approval of a proposed drinking water regulation which would set limits for two highly toxic chemicals. The Environmental Quality Board approved this rule at 14 parts per trillion and 18 ppm respectively in submissions from state agencies over the summer months. State officials have found one third of 400+ sites tested across Pennsylvania are contaminated with harmful chemical substances that could be coming from any number sources including industrial runoff or leaking storage tanks.

The new standards will protect public health by setting tighter restrictions on when they’re allowed inside school buildings as well as private homes where plumbing systems work continuously day-in/day out without being cleaned regularly enough. Learn more information on PFAS in drinking water.

    What Are PFAS?

The use of Perfluoro- and Polymeric substances (PFAS) has become a growing concern in recent years. These human-made chemicals are resistant to water, oil and heat which makes them perfect for industries such as manufacturing where it’s necessary to be able withstand these harsh conditions over long periods without failure or breakdown; however they also present some serious health risks when ingested by humans like thyroid hormone disruption among other things. Some common PFAS items include: Water Resistant Clothing/Shoes (e.g., GoreTex), Nonstick Cookware Coatings etc…

    How Do PFAS Contaminate Water?

One way that PFAS may find its way into the water is through products containing these chemicals. For instance, if you use items with a PFC orPFOS labelled on them then there’s an chance they contain this harmful compound as well. The problem doesn’t stop at just drinking contaminated water either; byproducts like fire foam released during manufacturing processes can also carry these substances far away from their source which will end up contaminating surface runoff-lines where we get our daily dose of pure filth delivered straight to us without even knowing what hit ’em (pun intended).

    Potential Health Affect

The world’s most loved and hated chemicals are also a potential health risk. The perfluorinated compounds or “PFAS” have been linked to increased cholesterol, infant birth weight reduction in pregnant women, an immune system that cannot fight off disease properly. These same properties make them dangerous for humans too- they will slowly accumulate within your body over time until you’re literally covered head-to-‘toe.” This passage covers why people should be concerned with these toxins when living their life today much like how I mentioned at the beginning of my own writing about this subject matter.

How to Remove PFAS in Water?

    Activated Carbon Filter

The activated carbon in your water filter is a great way to reduce the amount of PFAS that you are drinking. It’s common for this type metal-based adsorbent material to be used on natural organic chemicals, taste and odor compounds as well as synthetic ones which can cause problems with our health over time so keeping it clean will help keep me safe too!  If I look through all these filters at home – fridge, faucet mounted or pitcher style; they’re usually equipped with some form Carbon like ours anyways–I’ll notice just how effective73% reduction averaging across studies conducted by Duke University & NCSU accordingto findings published recently (2018).
