Whether you want to download stock images to your computer, or you are looking to find royalty free vector graphics for your next project, you can’t go wrong with Pixabay. This site is popular among photographers, illustrators, artists, and graphic designers for its vast collection of high quality and affordable images.
Downloading images
Using Pixabay to download images can be a great option for businesses. However, there are some things to keep in mind before signing up.
One thing to consider is that you need to ensure that you have the rights to use the images. You should not upload any content that is not yours or a client’s work. You also need to be aware that you cannot resell or redistribute the files that you download from Pixabay.
While Pixabay does not require you to sign up, it does ask you to complete a small captcha when you are downloading images. This is a way to protect the website from unauthorized usage of its images.
When you are searching for the image that you want, there is a search bar that lets you filter the results by style and topic. There is also a category called “Editor’s Choice” where the best images are spotlighted.
You can also search for music, illustrations, and videos. The site has more than 1.7 million stock photos and vector graphics.
Finding vector images
Using free vector images on your website is an excellent way to bring life to your landing page. Whether you are creating a blog post or launching a new product, a vector graphic can add an interesting and fun touch to the end result. It can also be used on merchandise to help brand your product or website.
Pixabay is an image search engine that offers a vast collection of free vector graphics. Known for its large and diverse selection of high-resolution photographs from professional photographers, it is a great resource for those looking for vectors to use in their projects.
Another popular source of free vector images is Unsplash. Their library is extensive and they focus on a variety of themes including illustration, icons and high-resolution photos. They have a great search bar and you can download several free vectors without signing up for a membership.
Freepik is another archive that has plenty of free vector pictures to choose from. This site is particularly good for vector icons and UI components. It allows users to download up to 30 free files when they sign up.
Refining search results
Touted as the source of all things visual, Pixabay has the scoop when it comes to searching for, well, images. While there aren’t a lot of filters to speak of, the site does have a few tricks up its sleeve. There are plenty of stock images, vectors and even stock footage. Having said that, the site’s biggest draw is its sheer size. Using its API, users can add their own media to the fray, allowing them to integrate the platform’s content with their own.
The site is fairly easy to navigate, albeit a little bit of a clicky mess. There’s a forum for user questions and feedback under the aforementioned Explore menu. The site also has a learning blog with free tips on hot topics such as the newest Instagram ad to hit the scene. In short, there are many reasons to sign up for an account. After all, isn’t it nice to know that you can use your favorite desktop to search for a new employee or find that perfect e-commerce image?
License structure
Generally, the Pixabay license gives you a non-exclusive right to use the image. But, there are certain requirements that must be met before you can use the image.
In general, the images on Pixabay are free to download. However, some of them require you to pay a fee before you can use them. These include videos, illustrations, and SVG files.
The license allows you to use the image in commercial or non-commercial projects. It is also possible to distribute the image as long as you don’t charge for it. You must also give credit to the artist and to Pixabay.
There are some ambiguities about the licensing of some images, which can cause some trouble for users. For example, it is not clear what rights the person who associated the work with the deed has. Unless you are sure, it is best to seek the author’s permission before using the image.
Conclusion
This is because the original work still belongs to the artist, even if it has been a derivative work. You may need to pay for the rights to use the image in physical products, or you may need to get a license to use the work on a book.
